FernwehFernweh is about that overwhelming feeling to get out and be in nature, to get away from the mundane. That is the feeling I wanted to capture in my piece, it is something that always bothers me in the back of my mind to make. When I was making this piece I needed to fully express that feeling and put it out, so it definitely had to help me be drawn to pieces and be open to suggestions. Which helped me make a reflection of how the feeling affects me. A lot of that emotion that inspired me was from the lighting that’s formed in nature. So creating this impression was a lot of fun in seeing how that lighting could put my project together just by what felt right.

Finding SerenityFinding Serenity is about the struggle of finding peace. How peace is often hidden and that you have to search and look in your life to take those steps in finding it. That’s why I decided to hide the dove in this piece. The dove itself was my starting point, I just wanted to incorporate a dove into one of my works. With that in mind, I had to figure out how the rest would go, so I started to think of what doves mean to us. I thought of a moment in the bible where Jesus was being baptized and how he saw the spirit of God descending upon him like doves. The doves were mentioned because of the way they fly, it’s peaceful to see hence, why I made this piece.

A King in timeMy artwork A King in time was heavily influenced by the tale of King David in the Bible. I made this piece because it was always told to me in my childhood, about the boy who slew the horrendous giant Goliath with just a sling. The whole story of King David is absolutely heartbreaking, but beautiful in how he still held onto God. After reading the whole story of David, I wanted to make a piece that reflected his future, without the part where he fought the giant, instead I wanted to show the promises God made to David before all of that.
