Finding SerenityFinding Serenity is about the struggle of finding peace. How peace is often hidden and that you have to search and look in your life to take those steps in finding it. That’s why I decided to hide the dove in this piece. The dove itself was my starting point, I just wanted to incorporate a dove into one of my works. With that in mind, I had to figure out how the rest would go, so I started to think of what doves mean to us. I thought of a moment in the bible where Jesus was being baptized and how he saw the spirit of God descending upon him like doves. The doves were mentioned because of the way they fly, it’s peaceful to see hence, why I made this piece.

New GrowthNew Growth is about what it feels like when God is in your life, what it feels like to be renewed in his love. I wanted to make this because I wanted to show the kind of peace and hope you can have with him and how your life can literally grow and expand when you didn’t think it was possible. Things that represent this would be the fingerprint on the back it’s meant to symbolize how he molds our lives with his own hands but in a subtle quiet way and the butterfly represents us being transformed in new hope. That a time of rebirth can happen.

Will you pick it up?Will you pick it up? It poses a question about the sword and taking it on an adventure. However my real question is, will you do this with God? I wanted to make this piece to be about a Christian saying of taking up your cross and obeying God every day but I wanted it to look a lot more fun than that because it’s not always painful or begrudgingly like that. But, a sword wasn’t made for romantic ideals either.

Close to MePeople wear lockets to keep something they love close to them whether it be a pet, a loved one, or the smell of a plant. It’s close to their heart and worn every day out of love. A constant love I have is a love for Jesus, the love for his sacrifice, his kindness, his hope, his mercy, his love. I wanted to make a locket that represents the affection we have for one another to how Jesus loves us in the same way.
